Susan Sarandon’s longtime New York apartment is now for sale for the first time in 30 years. Take a tour around the Thelma and Louisa star’s home…

Susan Sarandon’s longtime New York home has gone on the market for the first time in nearly 30 years.

The Thelma and Louisa star purchased the Chelsea duplex back in 1991 with her then-partner, Tim Robbins, before gaining sole custody of the property in 2011.

Spanning across 6,000-square-feet, the six-bedroom apartment is situated on the seventh and eighth floors of the exclusive building. Inside, there is a ginormous light-filled living area which overlooks bustling Manhattan below, a smart kitchen, a sunken media lounge, five bathrooms and a balcony, too.

The living room features a curved staircase which was used for Susan’s children as a space for them to perform and practice dance recitals.

Stepping inside is a bit like walking through the doors of a five-star hotel, thanks to the expansive rooms, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, Scandi-style interiors and luxurious, rich fabrics. It might appear minimal and modern at first glance, but it’s certainly not lacking any character.

One of our favourite spots is the bright blue guest bathroom. Not only has it been painted in a vibrant scene-stealing hue, but it’s also lined top-to-bottom with Susan’s many impressive awards. According to the listing, this space is referred as the ‘Academy Award bath’.

Other selling points include the roll-top bath in the master bedroom, communal breakfast bar and the rather impressive wooden treehouse-style bed in the kids’ bedroom (Susan’s three children grew up at the home). The space really is fitting for a movie star.

‘This celebrity-owned Chelsea duplex loft is beyond compare in scale, architecture and spectacular views,’ explains the listing. ‘A perfect place to live, work and enjoy the best of downtown. Bring your imagination and your dreams and make this one-of-a-kind celebrity loft yours.’

The apartment, known as La Fabrique, is a boutique loft cooperative located at the crossroads of Greenwich Village, Flatiron and West Chelsea. New homeowners will be moments from some of the world’s best shops, restaurants and buzzy bars.

This property is on the market for $7,900,000 (£6 million) via Sotheby’s International Realty.
